If you move to Amsterdam or Diemen from another place in the Netherlands, you have a choice of schools. Does your child attend regular education? You can switch to a new regular primary school of your choice if the school has room and the school can meet your child's educational needs.

Does your child attend special primary education (sbo)? From the first of February of 2022, the declaration of admissibility (TLV) for special primary education is valid nationwide.

Does your child already have a declaration of admissibility for special education (so)? It is valid nationwide.

Do some research in your new neighbourhood. Find out which primary school appeals most to you and your child. Register your child at this school. Mention that this is a relocation. The school will indicate whether it has room and, if yes, what it needs to register your child.

If your child's declaration of admissibility (toelaatbaarheidsverklaring, TLV) is still valid, you can register your child directly at the special primary education school of your choice. A declaration of admissibility (TLV) for special primary education is valid throughout the country. If the school of your choice has a place, it can register  your child after receiving pupils file  and the declaration of admissibility (TLV) for special primary education.

If your child has a valid declaration of admissibility (toelaatbaarheidsverklaring, TLV) for special education, you can register your child directly at the special education school of your choice. A declaration of admissibility (TLV) for special education is valid throughout the country. If the school of your choice has a place, it can register  your child after receiving pupils file  and the declaration of admissibility (TLV) for special education.

The school where your child is enrolled registers your child with het samenwerkingsverband where the school is located. So if your child is still enrolled at the school in the region where you lived, this school will apply to its samenwerkingsverband for a (different) declaration of admissibility (TLV). If they issue a declaration of admissibility for special education or special primary education, you can immediately use it in Amsterdam: it is valid nationwide.
